OWH - Sketch #166

Happy Easter! Here is my card for Operation Write Home's sketch #166. In lieu of the three corner embellishments I used one of Stampin' Up's new "Hung Up Cute Clips". The sentiment inside the thought bubble is a rub-on and the labrador retriever was cut using my silhouette.

Sketch 10

I really liked Shimelle's sketch to scrapbook page this week. The theme was "Using Triangles" which I thought would be a great opportunity to use some bold graphics. To balance the page I used a partially black and white photo that I edited in PSE11. This page was made using Stampin' Up's MDS software.

OWH - Sketch #165

Here is this week's sketch from Operation Write Home. The background paper is a kraft card stock with a clear embossed pattern that I distressed slightly with chocolate chip ink. The scalloped border was punched from a metallic patterned paper (retired) and the natural trim ribbon, which is my all-time favorite, was distressed and tied with the magic bow maker.

Sketch 9

Here is this week's layout for Shimelle's sketch to scrapbook page titled "Scrapbooking with a Central Focus". Although I didn't have great photos of this particular leg of our trip, I knew I had to document the crazy birds that we encountered that night. It was truly something out of a movie and so unbelievable that we still laugh about it to this day.

Tattered Floral Challenge

When I saw this challenge I knew immediately that I wanted to create a floral bouquet. I used pieces of patterned fabric, canvas and cardboard as the basis for each flower. I then applied various products from sprays to glitter to create a distressed look. I used large brads to secure all the pieces and then wired each flower to twigs that I cut from lilacs growing in my front yard.

OWH - Sketch #164

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!! Here is this week's sketch from Operation Write Home. All the products used are from Stampin' Up! except for the canvas in the background. The bow was made using the magic bow maker from Lee Conrey.

Sketch 8

Saturday is my niece Sydney's birthday and I thought it would be cool to put together a scrapbook page for her using one of Shimelle's sketches...Making A Banner With Photos. The background papers and many of the tags are from Stampin' Up! The font was a freebie from Persnickety Prints.

OWH - Sketch #163 and #162

Here are sketches #163 and #162 from Operation Write Home. I'm not sure how I forgot about last Sunday's sketch.   Anyway, I used what I had left from the "In Full Bloom" Simply Scrappin' Kit to make these two cards.  I had originally opened the kit for a Tim Holtz tag that I posted earlier this month and I'm really surprised at how far I've been able to stretch all the components. Hope you enjoy!

Twisted Card

My swap group is finally back up and running this year and we were tasked with doing a twisted card. I'm not sure that I really like the look and I felt like I was wasting a lot of card stock but if you're interested in making one you can follow along with Kelly Gettelfinger.

Sketch 7

This week's sketch from Shimelle is titled "Scrapbooking with a patterned paper you don't want to hide." For my page I used the Travel Journal DSP as the focal point and accented the page with other sheets from the set. Although this is a digital page, I actually have this paper and I had been saving this sheet because it was just too nice to use.

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2013 (March)

The theme of this month's tag is Easter. I started by cutting the bunny and the grass with my Silhouette. I then covered the bunny with Stampin' Up's dazzling details, although you can't see the glitter coating in the photo. I placed the bunny on cardstock cut using a framelit from the Labels Collections. I distressed the seam binding ribbon and all the edges of the cardstock. I covered the background paper with a piece of vellum to mute the colors.  I  then finished off the tag by using sticker embellishments from the "In Full Bloom" Simply Scrappin' Kit and added a rub on sentiment.
