Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2016 (Feb)

This month's tag from Tim features a really cool 50s era vintage photo and a coordinating background made with a lace stencil. I decided to switch it up a bit by using a dark SU patterned paper with a current selfie made to look vintage.  The sentiments in the background are Heidi Swapp and embossed with gold SU powder.  The flower is handmade.

Happy Anniversary

Last weekend we had the opportunity to visit relatives in Southern Oregon to  celebrate their construction company's 10-year anniversary.  It was a perfect summer evening along the Rogue River.

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2015 (Aug)

Several years ago I had my father-in-law's family photos scanned and I created a photo album for him to replace his shoebox. When I saw Tim's tag for August I knew exactly which one of his photos I would be using. Of course, I have no idea who this gentlemen is or how he's related to my husband. I used an embossing folder for the background and covered the tag with elmer's glue. I distressed and stamped with StazOn and used a green marker to colorize the photo and the old car. I think it turned out fabulous! That being said, I made two errors on the tag. Can you find them?

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2015 (May)

Last month my father-in-law celebrated his 91st birthday so I thought this photo of him and his two sons would be perfect for this month's tag from Tim. For the background I used sticky canvas instead of burlap and I added a variety of ephemera including airmail printables from pinterest.

National Black Dog Day

Black animals altogether, are the least adoptable pets in shelters because of their color. All too often, black dogs are overlooked because of many stigmas such as; the color black is evil (the same stigma that cats have), black dogs do not show up as well in photographs as muti-colored or light colored dogs and black dogs look scary and intimidating because you cannot see their facial expressions as easily, etc. They are easily overlooked when people are searching for a new dog and the first to be euthanized in overcrowded conditions.

This special day is devoted to creating public awareness about these beautiful, shiny fur babies that offer just as much unconditional love as any other dog and deserve just as much love back. Black dogs also show off colorful accessories much better than any lightly colored dog! Try buying your black dog a neon green or hot pink collar!

Please adopt a black dog and show the world how much light they have inside and out!

Photo Tinting with Markers

Here is a tag that was inspired by Tim Holtz's photo tinting technique. Basically you can take any sepia or black and white photo printed on an ink jet and colorize it using markers. In this case I used Stampin' Write Markers to colorize the boys shirts. What makes this extra special is that the boys are my husband's uncles from Ireland.
