Week 6 of 25

Four weeks after going into remission, Kallie is now out of remission.  Her treatment protocol has been changed accordingly and we're hopeful she can turn it around. Otherwise she seems to be in good spirits.

2 Weeks and Counting

Five days after losing Casey, Kallie was diagnosed with Stage 4 lymphoma.  Two weeks ago she started a course of chemotherapy that will last 25 weeks.  The bad news is that the average survival time after diagnosis is 1 year; without treatment 6-8 weeks.  The good news is that after just 2 weeks her cancer is in remission.  We are cautiously optimistic.

Farewell Casey

We who choose to surround ourselves
with lives even more temporary than our own,
live within a fragile circle;
easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps,
we would still live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only
certain immortality, never fully
understanding the necessary plan....

Casey's Cedar Tree Card
