Sketch to Scrapbook :: Grid Collage

As you can see I've been making my way through Shimelle's sketches which are all due at the end of the month. For sketch #35 I choose 3 camera photos featuring our dogs and a really cute dog embellishment. Hope you're enjoying the last Saturday in June.

Last night Mountain Hardware held their Annual Customer Appreciation event. We had a great time listening to music and hanging out with friends and family. For this layout I used Shimelle's sketch #46.

Last weekend Shimelle went crazy with a ton of sketches all due by the end of June. Below is another glimpse at the lavender fields at Highland Springs Resort. The focus of sketch #47 was to put photos and papers together to form a puzzle while following the principles of the visual triangle.

Happy Father's Day Sunday! Here is this week's card for Operation Write Home's sketch #229. I used Stampin' Up's "Beautiful Wing's" embosslits die for the butterflies and the hexagon embossing folder for the background.

Happy Father's Day! Here is the card that we made at our monthly swap. The stamp is called "Look Up to Father" and the embossing folder is called "Vine Street", both are from Stampin' Up! If you like the embossing folder it's on clearance for $2.39. Have a great day!

Airplane Punch Art

I saw this plane on Pinterest and knew it would go perfectly with Stampin' Up's "Cloudy Day" embossing folder which also happens to be on clearance for $4.79. Happy Sunday! Here is my card for Operation Write Home's sketch #228. For this card I used two watercolored butterflies from the Stampin' Up! "Papillon Potpurri" set that were left over from yesterday's tag project. For the sentiment I used a trimmed down Project Life card. ...a slight twist on the sketch.

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2014 (June)

Better late than never. Here is my take on Tim's tag for June. I used one of the butterflies from Stampin' Up's "Papillon Potpourri" and a coordinating punch. The sentiment is from the "Elegant Beginnings" set.

Compendium of Curiosities 3, Challenge 3

Happy Memorial Day! Here is my project showing the faux tea rose technique for Compendium of Curiosities 3, Challenge 3 from Linda Ledbetter. All the products used except for the tag base are from Stampin' Up! The flowers were cut using "Secret Garden" framelits and the butterflies are from the "Beautiful Butterflies" Bigz Die.

Thanks to everyone that participated in the blog hop yesterday. I really enjoyed seeing all the variations on red, white and blue. For this week's card for Operation Write Home's sketch #226 I used one of the new stamps from SU called "Life's Adventure."

Here is my layout for a this week's challenge posted by Relly on Shimelle's page. Although I have tons of paper strips and scraps of paper hoarded away in the "real world", I decided to stay digital for this layout. I used Stampin' Up's designer series paper called Cottage Wall. Enjoy!

Happy Saturday! Here is my layout for Scrapbook Challenges' sketch #392. These pictures were taken in Japan at the Sagano Bamboo forest near Kyoto. The layout was made using Stampin' Up's MDS software.

Last Saturday was National Scrapbook Day and Scrapbook Challenges put out a special sketch to celebrate the day. Here is my take on their sketch. I used a photo of my niece and her friend at her school district's 24 Game tournament as the focal point for my layout.

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2014 (May)

Here is this month's tag for Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2014 challenge. To me this was quite a departure from Tim's previous tags and even more of a challenge for me since I did not have the shadowpress folder or a wide selection of embellishments. So with that I had to do some improvising. I started by cutting the word "beautiful" with my silhouette in two colors of cardstock with the idea that one would be placed in the background to create the shadow effect and it actually worked.

OWH - Sketch #223

Happy May! Here is this week's card for Operation Write Home's sketch #223. I created the image by stamping with bleach on espresso cardstock and applied gold ink with the Stampin' Up! air spritzer. I cut the image about 2/3 of the way down and layered it on several pieces of cardstock. The ribbon was tied using the bow maker.
