We are extremely fortunate to live near several US Forest areas and have the opportunity to go hiking whenever we'd like. Almost every time we go we see something new, so I thought this photo of a lone tree would go well with the second sketch of the month from Stuck?!Sketches.

Stuck?! Layout #1 (Sep) - Bike the Bay

For this month's first sketch from Stuck?! Sketches I used a recent photo from a biking event in San Diego. The cluster around the photo was a freebie off the internet and the background paper is from Jenn Barrette.

Stuck?! Layout #2 (Aug) - Love This

For the August 15th challenge from Stuck?! Sketches I used some colorful photos from a car show and paired it with some unusual elements including celestial paper. Very apropos in light of the upcoming eclipse on the 21st.

Serendipity Sketch - August 2017

Here is my layout for August's sketch from Miyuchi over at scrapbook.com. These photos were taken at Currituck Beach Lighthouse in the Outer Banks. This structure dates back to 1875.

Stuck?! Layout #1 (Aug) - Summer

If you're ever in the Outer Banks I would recommend a trip to the Wright Brothers National Monument in Kill Devil Hills. While there isn't a ton to see, it's amazing to think the first sustained flight only took place 114 years ago.

For this month's second sketch from Stuck?! Sketches I used a photo of my niece from a recent vacation in the Outer Banks and made all the elements monochromatic.

Here is this month's sketch from Miyuchi and a picture of Cousin Haddy. I kept all the colors very simple and plain by using papers from SU's Paw Parade.

I found this quote from Penny Bolder, a Cancer Survivor, on the University of Michigan's website. I thought it would make a wonderful card for someone going through a tough time. ...my first brush lettering project on vellum.

Template Challenge - July 2017

This was my first time using a template and my first time participating in Kate Hadfield's template challenge for July. I only have a few of her products so I didn't change the template much since the goal was to use 50% of her stuff.  Being a newbie to this I actually had to look up how to clip the photo to fit in the frames (thanks #onecreativemommy).

Pictured are my husband's grand niece and nephew having some fun with props at a recent wedding renewal. Aren't they the cutest? The inspiration for this page came from Stuck?! Sketches' challenge for July. The brush script was a free download called Selima.

Last weekend my brother checked off an item from his bucket list and lived to tell. This is my layout for Stuck?! Sketches second layout of the month. As you can see it was an awesome day with temperatures in the 90s.

Happy Birthday - Hummingbird

This cute little guy was created using a 3-step polymer stamp set from SU where each layer of the bird was stamped in a different color with a slightly different image. 

Serendipity Sketch - June 2017

For this month's sketch from Miyuchi I thought these airshow photos in polaroid frames would be perfect. Speaking of polaroids, I recently purchased the Fujifilm Instax camera and OMG...it is so much like an old school Polaroid camera! Definitely recommend it.

Last month we had the opportunity to get up close and personal with professional cyclists participating in the Amgen Tour of California. The inspiration for this layout came from Stuck?! Sketches. Can't wait to see these guys in the Tour de France.

Sympathy Card

Last week a friend of mine had to put down his young German Shepherd due to a rare infection called  diskospondylitis. I had this card base in my stash and was able to add a nice sympathy quote on the inside along with one of Tim Holtz's Crazy Dogs on the outside.

For this month's sketch from Miyuchi I wanted to remember my father-in-law who would have been 93 years old on April 10th. We recently visited his gravesite and had a moment to reflect on his life. The lilacs are for Sallie.

Last Saturday we received a surprise phone call from my husband's cousin from Ireland. He was actually in the US with his son and less than two hours away.
