SBC - Sketch #472

Last week we participated in the 3rd Annual Emerald Necklace Grand Tour in Redlands. While it was a relatively easy ride I thought this sentiment went perfectly with the photo since I use this phrase incessantly when going up hills. This is Sketch #472 from Scrapbook Challenges.

SBC - Sketch #471

These photos were taken on Valentine's Day near our house.  It's a local mountain road that closes every winter so it's a great place to walk with the girls.  Unlike the rest of the country we've been having unseasonably warm weather so it was a perfect day. This is sketch #471 from Scrapbook Challenges.

SBC - Sketch #470

For this week's sketch from Scrapbook Challenges I thought these three vintage photos worked really well together. The papers and the embellishments are from SU.

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2016 (Feb)

This month's tag from Tim features a really cool 50s era vintage photo and a coordinating background made with a lace stencil. I decided to switch it up a bit by using a dark SU patterned paper with a current selfie made to look vintage.  The sentiments in the background are Heidi Swapp and embossed with gold SU powder.  The flower is handmade.

SBC - Sketch #469

For this week's sketch from Scrapbook Challenges I'm sharing more biking photos. As you can see, this bike trail ends at a cul-de-sac.  How cool is that?  All the papers used are from SU's digital collection.

SBC - Sketch #468

Last week we rode in our first organized ride, the Tour de Palm Springs. The weather was absolutely spectacular at 70 degrees and we finished our 25 mile ride in 2 hours.

SBC - Sketch #467

When I first saw this sketch from Scrapbook Challenges I instantly thought of this photo and this background paper from SU called "Old School". I went through at least a dozen titles before settling on the very simplistic "run".

SBC - Sketch #466

This year I'm trying to do a better job of scrapbooking my photos and so far, so good.  Initially I had dismissed this sketch from Scrapbook Challenges as being too busy but ultimately it turned out to be a good way to use five photos on one page. The journal cards are SU Project Life, the cactus I found online and the quote at the top is courtesy of Ali Edwards.

SBC - Get Messy Challenge

Back in November we visited Tucson and had an opportunity to ride on The Loop.  For this challenge from Scrapbook Challenges I attempted to "get messy" digitally which wasn't easy.

SBC - Sketch #465

Here is my layout for Scrapbook Challenges' Sketch #465. All the products used are from SU's retired digital line of products and were assembled using their retired software, My Digital Studio.

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2016 (Jan)

Happy New Year and welcome (back?) to my blog. If you've been following me you'll know that I'm a die hard Tim Holtz fan and I live for his monthly tag challenges. You may also know that I'm a SU demonstrator and I often use SU products. That being said, my goal is not to sell you anything but only to share in the creativity inspired by Tim. Enjoy!

Merry Christmas!

I hope all of you are having a wonderful holiday and spending lots of quality time with friends and family.  The inspiration for my Christmas card this year came from Kimberly van Diepen at StampinByTheSea.com.

Crazy Christmas

Just once I'd like to see someone send a photo card with a crazy family photo.  Wouldn't that be fun?  Here's to you, from all of us.

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2015 (Dec)

Well, it's hard to believe that another year is coming to an end and I've managed to complete all twelve tag challenges from Tim for the fourth year in a row. For this year's final tag I used SU fabric for the background and the Wondrous Wreath set and coordinating dies for the wreath.  Stay tuned next week for my annual Christmas Card as well as a posting of all 12 Tags of 2015.  Be safe!

Happy 41st Birthday!

Happy Birthday Ken!  The papers, staples, embossing and "birthday" stamp are from SU.  The "happy" die is from Heidi Swapp and the typewriter embellishments are magnets from themonsterfactory.com.

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2015 (Nov)

Happy November and end to Daylight Saving Time (not Savings).  For this month's tag from Tim, I used Etcetera Design Series Paper from SU for the background, QWERTY fridge magnets from themonsterfactory.com and the rooster is from SU's Rustic Rooster set.

Fall Birthday Card

This coming week my best friend from high school is celebrating her birthday. Everything is from SU except for the watercolor word from Heidi Swapp.

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2015 (Oct)

Happy Fall! For this month's Tag from Tim, I used a skull pattern from Silhouette and distressed it with several shades of green ink on the outside and red ink on the inside.  The skull shadow is actually a black piece of cardstock cut to match the skull. The paper and the sentiment are from SU.

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2015 (Sep)

For this month's tag I wanted to use orange and maroon to kick off the college football season (Go Hokies!). In lieu of texture paste I used a paisley texture plate and created an embossed effect. The butterfly stamp is from 2001 and one of my favorite retired classics. While I love the look of vellum, I would probably use acetate next time to preserve the beauty of the stamped images underneath.

Happy Anniversary

Last weekend we had the opportunity to visit relatives in Southern Oregon to  celebrate their construction company's 10-year anniversary.  It was a perfect summer evening along the Rogue River.

Baptism Card

My husband's grandnephew, Liam Jude, is getting baptized this morning. I thought this matching stamp and die from SU were perfect for the occasion.

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2015 (Aug)

Several years ago I had my father-in-law's family photos scanned and I created a photo album for him to replace his shoebox. When I saw Tim's tag for August I knew exactly which one of his photos I would be using. Of course, I have no idea who this gentlemen is or how he's related to my husband. I used an embossing folder for the background and covered the tag with elmer's glue. I distressed and stamped with StazOn and used a green marker to colorize the photo and the old car. I think it turned out fabulous! That being said, I made two errors on the tag. Can you find them?

OWH - Sketch #259

Today's card is my thank you to Sandy Allnock for all the JOY she has brought to card makers like myself and more importantly to all the troops and their loved ones who were fortunate to come across these wonderful works of art.  Here is sketch #259 from Operation Write Home.

OWH - July Challenge

Operation Write Home is a great organization that will be closing it's doors in August.  If you'd like to donate cards please click here. For this card I used SU's new stamp set called "Watercolor Wings" with the matching die and the new brickwall embossing folder. The sentiment is from Heidi Swapp.
